- Program development name : CALC
- If you have a program with this name, please note that it is a
- pirated copy and that this is the official debugged version.
- Versions preceeding 1.3 are bugged and versions preceeding 1.1 are
- slow, delete them!
-
-
-
- Now for some help and information.
- After booting, the program will read your datafile.
- Then you will come in the main menu with the following options:
-
- 1. Input
- 2. Delete
- 3. Display
- 4. Print
- 5. Edit
- 6. Save datafile
- 7. Rename header + change specifications
- 8. Delete all
- 9. Special menu
-
- Use option 6 to store your changes
- Option 9 brings you a new menu, details below.
-
-
-
-
- Option 1 : Input
- ----------------
-
- You will be asked for:
- the date (form : day-month-year/dd-mm-yy
- eg. 12-01-90)
-
- then the specifications (eg. TDK SA90
- The Best
- Live in concert
- or whatever you like)
-
- Then the header under which the item (tape/cd/record) can be found
- and will be sorted. (eg. Jean Michel Jarre "Zoolook"
- Duran Duran "Decade" )
- Tale will put an asterix (*) before your header.
-
- Then you have the basic setup. Now you can edit the index.
- You can edit the index with almost all keys.
- Special keys: F1 - places cursor at top
- F10 - places cursor at bottom
- TAB - 6 places right
- ` -insert subheader (²)
- ~ -remove subheader (²)
- Esc -Exit editor (¹)
- Return-Insert line
- LEFT,RIGHT,UP,DOWN,BACKSPACE,DELETE - as always
-
- ¹- When you exit, the titles between the subheaders will be sorted
- and your new item (tape/cd/record) is stored in memory.
-
- ²- When you have more than one artist on a tape
- e.g. header: Jean Michel Jarre "Zoolook" + New Beat "Maxis"
- then you can use subheaders to seperate the titles:
-
- -JMJ:
- Zoolook (remix)
- Zoolookologie
- -NB:
- Taste of sugar
- I sit on Acid
-
- This is not the only reason for subheaders though. In future
- releases they can be used with a new function that searches for
- artists or groups in every item. So you can find out in what
- item a certain artist is located. Of course you have to keep
- using the same name. (Capitals are not important).
-
-
- Option 7 : Rename header + alter specifications
- -----------------------------------------------
-
- Allows you to give an existing index a new header and new
- specifications. The old header will be removed and the new one
- will be sorted. The old header location routine is capital
- independent (eg. When it is in the file as 'Jean Michel Jarre' a
- searchkey like 'JEAN MICHEL JARRE' is alright, also 'JEAn miCHEL jaRrE'
- or 'jean michel jarre' is okay. Apart from that is an input like 'jea'
- already enough. If there is another header with this beginning, like
- 'jeans rockers' you can continue the search).
- No asterix (*) before header please.
-
-
-
- Option 5 : Edit
- ---------------
-
- Enter the header (or a part, like all searches; capital independent)
- and wait for it to be found (or not). You can then edit the index,
- or continue the search for the next header with same beginning.
-
-
-
- Option 2: Delete
- ----------------
-
- Read option 5, instead of editing it, you have the option
- of deleting it (not obliged).
-
-
- Option 8: Delete all
- --------------------
-
- Deletes all headers, indexes and specifications. To build a new
- datafile. Accesscode is required to secure against unwanted loss
- of data.
-
-
- Option 3 : Display
- ------------------
-
- You now get a list of headers.
- Flip through the pages with LEFT and RIGHT.
- Exit with Escape.
- Use F1 and F10 for top and bottom
-
- If you wish to see the index and specifications
- enter RETURN. Use UP and DOWN to move the 'extraction'-cursor.
-
- The numbers indicate number of items on left (<x), right (x>),
- in total ([x]) and at which position the cursor is located.
-
-
- Option 4 : Print
- ----------------
-
- Use this option to print (a part of) the audiolist.
- First you will get to see the list (like in Display). All headers
- are initially deselected. Now select the headers to be printed.
- Flip through the pages with LEFT and RIGHT and use F1 and F10 for
- top and bottom. Use UP and DOWN to move the (de)selection cursor.
- Press SPACE to (de)select a header. Special fill functions provide
- Fill all, Clear all, fill all tapes/cds/records. Use ESC to escape
- print option or P to continue (after selecting). You can now specify
- more options.
- Use preferences to select a printerdriver.
-
-
-
- Option 9 : Special menu
- -----------------------
-
- This menu includes less used options.
-
- among which:search for errors in arraydata:
-
- With a read/write error or a disturbance when editing you
- might get the problem of binary in your indexes. This option
- checks all arraydata and can indicate in which item you have
- illegal data. Correct it with Edit function, or exit TALE and
- type ED TALED to edit the datafile manually. (Of course there
- are no facilities, eg. sorting).
-
- See help file:
-
- Enjoying it ? If not press Escape. If you're at the end
- of the page, just press RETURN to read and view the
- next one. Help file written by Mitch. If help file version
- is older than Tale program version, then some new features
- or changes/improvements might not be documentated (yet).
-
- memory information:
-
- Gives total number of items, total of memory used for
- storing arraydata (in bytes), average memory used per
- item and from that calculates how many more items you
- can input before memory is used till full capacity.
-
-
- search for a songname:
-
- This option scans through all indexes to find a song.
- Input the song, or a part of it. Remember: the longer
- the search pattern, the slower the searching !! Capital
- independant search. You can also print just this song
- when found with corresponding tape, eg.:
-
- Rock me Amadeus (Falco "nice album" - Hits "summer edition")
-
-
-
- cover constructor:
-
- To edit a cover, to be printed out and put in your
- plastic cassettecovers. Use normal edit keys (Up,Down,
- Left,Right,Del,Backspace,Tab,Return). Use ` key (above
- Tab) to go 3 back (inverse tab). Use Esc to end editing.
- Other keys: F1 copies from the line above (only in index
- area), F2 copies from line below. F6 loads a saved cover
- from disk and F10 saves your current cover to the disk.
-
- Don't mind the centred dots (···), they will be replaced
- by spaces before printing. (Used to indicate lenght of
- lines and cursor editing area).
-
- Top line is in normal mode. Put the tape header here.
- Next 11 lines are printed in small characters. Last
- two lines are folded to top of tape cover. Use these
- again for header and 2nd line for specifications.
-
- After Esc press Esc again to cancel or P to print
-
-
-
-
- Old version update
- ------------------
-
- If you have used an older version of Tale and wish to update the
- datafile, then use CLI or your own CLI disk and copy the file "TALED"
- to this disk. If you have any problems, send (a copy of) your original
- TALE disk to DAI (address at top of file) together with your address.
- I'll put the latest version with your datafile on your disk and return
- it to you without any cost.
-
